Empowering Special Educators: Enhancing Communication Skills
Support Every Child’s Voice, Every Day
Our workshops are crafted to equip special education professionals with the tools and confidence to support students with diverse communication needs. Whether you're in a special education classroom, working with students with disabilities, or supporting students with complex communication needs, our sessions are designed to meet your unique challenges.
What Could Be Included in the Session
Key communication disorders or communication challenges that may co-occur with autism, cerebral palsy, down syndrome, etc and how you can support someone’s communication
How to effectively use AAC tools (e.g., boards, speech devices, apps) to support each person’s communication needs
Practical strategies for supporting communication through visual aids, simplified language, and modelling
How to create individualised communication plans tailored to each student's unique sensory, motor, and cognitive needs
Strategies for creating an inclusive environment that promotes communication and social interaction
How to collaborate with families and professionals to ensure consistent communication support across all settings
Techniques for supporting non-verbal students in social settings, including peer interactions and navigating social situations
These are just some of the topics we could cover during our sessions, but each online live or in-person workshop is tailored to meet the specific needs and interests of your team. We understand that every group has different priorities, so we work with you to focus on the areas that will be most valuable for your educators and staff. Whether you want to dive deeper into a specific communication strategy, explore new tools and techniques, or discuss real-world challenges you’re facing in the classroom, we customise each session to ensure it’s as relevant and impactful as possible. Additionally, we leave space in every session for questions and open discussion, so educators can raise concerns and get advice that directly applies to their day-to-day work.
Tailored to Your Team
We understand that each educational setting is unique. Our workshops can be customised to address the specific needs of your team, whether you're focusing on:
